PHONICS
This week we focused on reviewing everything that we have learned so far in Phonics (letters, sounds, letter-formation, etc.). Your kinder participated in a mini-assessment and compared this assessment to their first assessment. They were so excited to share about their growth. I sent these home in their folder so that you could see and celebrate their growth, too. :-)
Your child should be able to:
-identify all letters and sounds
-form letters correctly
-identify the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of words
-read and sound out (tap out) CVC words and/or CVCe words and write them
-identify h brothers and their sounds (SH, CH, TH, WH)
**CONTINUE TO WORK ON THESE SKILLS AT HOME.**

WRITING WORKSHOP
This week we had so much fun with gingerbread man. To incorporate informational writing into our reading about the gingerbread man, we made gingerbread shapes. Everyone participated in the process and learned how to make them. We discussed the tools/ingredients used and the process.
Together as a whole group, each student began to create a HOW-TO book about how to make the gingerbread shapes. We will complete these books upon arriving back to school in January.
